What is the best manner to become Mending books?
In my current world I don't have a practiced source of Mending books. And I recall I'll desire to become some before The Ender Dragon and The Wither fight. I've added a poll with methods of getting them. Thanks!

Afk fish farm is good, but for on-demand books you should breed villagers and find a librarian with a cheap mending trade.

Villager trading all the fashion for me. I have a Librarian with the lowest cost Mending trade (x emeralds), and he'due south my goto guy. You will need a scrap of infrastructure tho to support a villager trading hall, namely enough of crops for trading with the farmer villagers to get emeralds, and loads of paper for getting emeralds from librarians and unlocking their trades. But over fourth dimension, with a proficient hall, you can get a great choice of skillful trades, not only mending.

Breeding villagers until you go a Librarian that stocks them is easily the all-time way. You can get Mending books via AFK fishing farms, merely rate of aggregating is excruciatingly slow - even if you lot go out it going overnight every dark, in that location'll exist long periods in which y'all won't get a single book.
Once yous get a Librarian that sells the books yous tin can concentrate on farming emeralds and buy dozens of the things (which I recommend doing, because I've then far lost two Librarians with Mending trades under mysterious circumstances; don't treat them like a resources that'll e'er be there, just use them to get equally many books as you think you lot'll need equally soon equally ane appears).

Fishing is definitely not the way to go. I accept an AFK fishing farm that I have left running for days, and I'k talking real life days not Minecraft days, and even though I have caught hundreds of books, not one of them was a mending volume (and fifty-fifty if yous do grab one, it will probably exist cursed).
Curing zombie villagers has as well been seriously nerfed lately, considering zombie dungeon spawners no longer spawn zombie villagers, then it is far more difficult to observe and comprise them now.
Exploring for mending books in loot chests will be a long and deadening process to fifty-fifty get enough for your basic armor. The best place for that would probably be in Mesa gold mines, since at that place volition be more than chests to notice without having to travel as far.
An infinite villager breeder and automatic farms to get the goods to trade volition exist your all-time route if you are looking for the all-time price (10 emeralds and a book in PC/Java Minecraft). Otherwise, look for villages and hope for the best.
I got lucky in one of my worlds. I built an hush-hush fe subcontract correct outside my base and ane of the villagers that was born there has mending for 14 emeralds (not the all-time price, but close plenty). In my other world I added a bunch of doors to a village and got mending in 1 of the new librarians that was born. I was in the process of building an infinite breeder when I institute him, then I never completed it.

One matter. If yous've never fought the dragon earlier, then yous. Are. Going. To. Die. And probably lose all your stuff. Why would yous bring your all-time "forever" gear with you? Instead, I'd recommend going in with some enchanted iron gear that you won't miss too dearly if information technology ends up lost forever, and leave the mending stuff at home.

I have defeated the dragon before on legit worlds. I think iii-four times without dying.
I kinda hold with leaving my diamond armor at dwelling house safely. May consider that..

The only existent danger of losing your stuff in the dragon fight is if information technology knocks you lot into the Void before you manage to get onto the main island. It'due south all-time to get into the end portal butt naked but for a stack of blocks, a few ender pearls and an ender breast with all your good stuff in it, and if you can get yourself quickly and safely onto the main island, constitute the chest and equip everything while the dragon is notwithstanding flying around. Enchanted diamond armor/sword/bow makes the dragon trivial to kill so it's worth using.

The dragon is really non all that hard to kill. I think it may even be easier now with the new end changes.
The main problem are the towers with cages over the end crystals. I just dumped water below and pillared up to get out a TNT next to the cage, then jumped down and shot information technology with a flame bow (if you don't have a flame bow you could light it with a flint and steel before jumping down). Once all the end crystals are destroyed, just stand up under the dragon and whack her with a sword (or axe) while she is perched on the portal. With a Sharpness V sword it doesn't accept long.
The chief danger is getting knocked into the void.
If y'all bring a stack or two of glass bottles you can rapidly gather up the dragon'south jiff, and so that's not much of an effect either.
Some decent fe armor, a bow+arrows and a good diamond sword or axe (+ some food, potions or golden apples for healing) should be plenty for even novice players to shell the dragon. Fighting the dragon is probably one of the most disappointing stop game dominate battles of all time.

I'd vote AFK fishing if you just want a few books fairly quickly, villagers for the long haul.
That said, I got my Mending books by AFK angling earlier the curses were added, over I'd say a week or 2 of going AFK all dark every dark, and so I'm sure information technology takes longer now. But without a villager breeder, getting a Mending villager takes forever (inquire me how I know...) I really need to research how to make a villager breeder as this is driving me basics.

Y'all need only one villager. Just place a lectern and bank check the villager if he sells mending (Practise Non Trade IF HE DOES Non SELL BECOSE So HE Volition LOCK THE Task) if not but remove lectern and wait until he quits the job and place the lectern dorsum until he sells mending.

I find the dragon fight very hard. Delight don't speak for everyone.
Fishing is easiest simply trading is more applied if you accept the patience.

Merely if you keep resetting his trades then sooner or later he'll have mending as his kickoff book trade.
So you don't take to trade until he offers Mending.
Sorta seems like an exploit to me, merely that, apparently, is the style it works.
